Shearwater is looking for a Marine Parts Ordering Clerk to work in our busy Marine Hardware Store. This is a permanent relocation where you will live and work in our community year round.
Shearwater Marine is a medium sized company that has been in business on BC`s Central Coast (between Port Hardy and Prince Rupert) for the past 70 years. We operate a year-round Marine Resort and town on Denny Island, near Bella Bella, with our own Freight Service, Water Taxi Fleet, Hotel, Bar & Grill, Grocery & Liquor Store, Marine Hardware Store, Shipyard, Fuel Dock, Tug & Barge, and specialty cut Sawmill. Shearwater is one of the main hubs for mariners on their way to and from Alaska & Haida Gwaii, and we also offer seasonal yacht moorage, fishing charters, and sport fishing packages.
Job Duties:
- Research and place special orders
- Assist marine techs in filling parts requests
- Cashier, stocking, cleaning, and customer service
- Fill propane tanks, receive stock, inventory, etc.
- Update work orders, merchandise returns, warranties and fishing licenses
Requirements:
- 1+ years Cashier POS experience
- 1+ years Sales / Retail experience
- 2+ years Customer Service experience
- 2+ years clerical experience (MS Excel and MS Word)
- Ordering experience a huge asset
- Product knowledge of marine: electrical, plumbing, fishing (asset)
- Past experience around boats, fishing and marine environment (asset)
- Strong customer service, communication skills, and computer skills
- Able to be both team member and work independently
- Physically fit to lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable with a relocation to a semi-remote community
Subsidized housing can be arranged for $300/month, although it is preferred that staff have their own RV or live-aboard boat. Subsidized relocation costs from Vancouver or Vancouver Island are provided. This is a full-time permanent position.
